Abstract

This study analyzes the significance of the Marian icon in 18th-century Caracas' visual communication, highlighting its role in social, political, and religious cohesion. Through art and symbolic discourse, the research explores how the image of the Immaculate Conception and colonial power influenced the cultural and religious identity of the period.

Alfredo Rodríguez Iranzo , Universidad Metropolitana de Caracas (Venezuela)

As a Social Communicator, I worked for several years as a journalist and publicist in the country’s print media, while simultaneously serving as a university professor specializing in Graphic Arts.

As Director of Academic Publications, I edit the international journals Almanaque and Anales, which are part of the Office of Research. Their main purpose is to disseminate the research findings of faculty members in the fields of Social Sciences, Technology, and the Sciences across various faculties.
