Abstract

Reflections on the need to develop ecological awareness at humanity’s current moment and proposes to do it from the systemic U Theory perspective. Theory U is a social innovation methodology created by Professor Otto Scharmer from MIT Business School, which proposes a profound change in people and organizations to face the challenges of today's world from a systemic and ecological perspective. The ideas of Fritjof Capra, Humberto Maturana and Otto Scharmer are reviewed, who have contributed visions and tools to understand life as a self-generative, cognitive and reflective process that is related to the environment. The evolution of the concept of ecological awareness throughout history and its link with sustainable development and the objectives of the United Nations 2030 agenda are also analyzed. Finally, the review of some initiatives and organizations that are working in Venezuela to promote the transformation of ecological and social awareness through Theory U.
